What are you currently working on or worked on before?
I am currently working on host(human) protein interaction and homeostatic regulation upon pathogen infection, Recombinant Vaccine Development (FMDM, ASFV, COVID-19), Antiviral Drug Development (Influenza virus, Respiratory syncytial virus, COVID-19).
What encouraged you to pursue your research topic?
Curiosity.

Chungnam National University, South Korea.
Where do you find your best inspiration for your work?
Society, field problems and literature.

What’s one of your biggest personal achievements so far?
Best researcher award from Chungnam National University, South Korea for the year 2019.
What lessons would you share with a budding researcher?
The importance of prediction/ forecast future problems with present and past experiences.
Collaborative work is much more reliable and fast than individual research work.
What motivated you to be a researcher?
Recognition and future value.
If there is a chance, will you help build research in Sri Lanka?
Yes for sure. My first ambition is to serve my country where I start my journey as a researcher. Whenever possible, I help Sri Lankan young researchers. I have been doing this for years now.
According to your opinion, what are the changes that the Sri Lankan education system needs to do, in order to meet the requirement of the international industry and academia?
01. Undergraduate students should be involved in laboratory research work during their first degree.
02. The government should make all efforts to release graduates from government universities at a minimum age.
