Your Top 3 learnings from the ScholarX program?
If I condense what I learnt from this program to three main learning points, it would be as follows. Hard work is extremely valuable, but also taking time off is important too. It’s crucial to know when to take a step back and refuel and take a break. This way we can do our work, a lot more efficiently and with more joy. Secondly, I learned that trying is important. You don’t have to be ready, trying is important regardless. Something else that Dr.Hasini focused on was to look at what we want to do in the future when making decisions and that way the fields that we choose and the tasks that we do is taking us to a point that we want to get to and it helps in motivating us to give it our all and work hard. This has allowed me to look at opportunities that would eventually take me to the place that I want to be in the future.
It’s 2029, what are you up to?
I have always struggled with finding my passion and purpose and have invested a lot of time and energy on self-improvement and self-exploration in the last few years. Applying for the ScholorX program was one such decision. I wish I can say what it is I want to do in 10 years, but unfortunately, I can’t. I can say that I hope to do work that I love and to be of service and have a positive impact in the world. A quote that I choose to live by is
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Any advice to prospective ScholarX participants?
The advice that I would give to future ScholarX participants is that the opportunity that has been given to you is a one in a lifetime opportunity. Show up and be present at each session or email. To get the fullest out of the program I would recommend to have personal goals that you hope to achieve through the program and to have a pre-prepared list of questions that you would like to learn from your respective mentor in the course of the program.
